Like most expats living in Spain you will probably still want to watch UK TV, now there are a few ways to do this - there are some cable companies offering services and some places can pick up some channels via a wi-fi system but generally you will need a satellite dish a digital receiver.
If you want to get high definition SKY then you won't be able to use the cable/wi-fi systems as they just re-transmit a satellite signal and this can't handle HD - so you will need to have a dish, HD SKY box and subscribe to the HD cannels.
On average the size of dish required to pick up UK BBC & ITV is around 2.4m and most dishes installed are the high quality Portuguese ones, although the signal strength of your area may allow for a smaller dish. As a result of the dishes being so large you must bear in mind that your dish must be situation in a south facing position and secured on a concrete base for stability with a clear line of site for the siginal. It is also possible to receive Sky subscription channels on a small dish.
If you have SKY in the UK the best option is to bring out your card & box and then get a dish installed and connected, this way you can just keep your subscription running (paid from a UK bank account) - bear in mind though that under SKY's terms you have to have your digi-box plugged into a telephone line for 12 months to fullfil your contract. Alternatively you can get a card in Spain but just don't ask too many questions about it!
